Minnesota Twins

The Twins enter tonight’s matchup sporting a 28-15 record that ranks them as the best team in the AL Central. At the present time, Minnesota owns a 4 ½ game lead over the 2nd seeded Cleveland Indians. Although that’s a decent gap, Minnesota will undoubtedly be looking to build on it in the coming days. Seeing as how they absolutely demolished Seattle in last night’s matchup, it stands to reason that they’ll be able to pick up another road win this Friday night.

However, last night’s success came largely at the expense of Eric Swanson, who started the game for Seattle. In just three innings, Swanson allowed 8 of Minnesota’s 11 runs on the night. Clearly the Mariners need someone stronger at the start if they’re to stand a chance of upsetting Minnesota. Tonight the Twins will be starting Martin Perez. So far this season, Perez has a 5-1 record as well as a 3.11 ERA and a 1.25 WHIP.

Players to Watch: Eddie Rosario (13 HR, 34 RBI, .258 BA), Jorge Polanco (8 HR, 20 RBI, .333 BA), and Max Kepler (9 HR, 20 RBI, .233 BA).

Seattle Mariners

After last night’s loss, Seattle has now fallen to 22-24. That losing record ranks Seattle 2nd overall in the AL West, placing them a whopping 8-games behind the division leading Astros. All in all, Seattle was finding success early on but have been unable to shake their recent woes. Coming off such a decisive loss, Seattle needs to give their fans something to root for this evening. The man tasked with riling up the home crowd is none other than Marco Gonzales. Gonzales enters tonight’s matchup with a 5-2 record as well as a 3.18 ERA and a 1.29 WHIP. With Gonzales on the mound, Seattle might have a chance at upsetting Minnesota.

Players to Watch: Domingo Santana (8 HR, 37 RBI, .275 BA), Mitch Haniger (11 HR, 24 RBI, .237 BA), and Ryon Healy (7 HR, 25 RBI, .239 BA).
