Diamondbacks Vie for Baseball Wagering Comeback
Posted by: Anthony Yaylor
Baseball wagering fans will have a full menu of MLB action to contend with as we head into the weekend. With a total of 15 contests booked for this Friday, there will be Major League Baseball action throughout the day. Let’s run over what we saw this Thursday before we glaze over any favorable pairings.
Thursday’s Sports Betting Results
Thursday got off to a quick start with the Indians picking up their second-straight win over the Texas Rangers. Cleveland had come into this series – which concluded with last night’s game, sporting a crippling losing streak. In the end, a little run in with Texas is all the Indians needed as they are back on top in the AL Central.
After that contest, some teams followed the lopsided precedent set forth by the Indians. The Tigers beat the Royals 7-3 and the St. Louis Cardinals did the Diamondbacks one worse, beating Arizona 10-4. The Astros put up similar figures against Oakland, beating the A’s 6-1 to finish that series on a 2-game winning streak.
The Pirates would deliver the first shutout of the day, beating the Rays 4-nil. It didn’t matter much, as Pittsburgh still ranks penultimate in the NL Central. The Orioles would follow up the Pirates’ shutout with another one, beating the Blue Jays 2-0. Oh, and the Nats snapped the Cubs 2-win streak, getting that sweet baseball wagering revenge they had their eye on.
A pair of 6-3 finishes saw the Mets beat the Marlins and the Red Sox win over the Twins. The Brewers delivered a ‘nothing-burger’ to the Cincinnati Reds 11-3. New York lost to the White Sox 4-3 and with that loss the Yanks have also lost the lead in the AL East. The Padres delivered the night’s third shutout, overcoming the Braves 6-0.
The night finished with a Los Angeles 6-2 win over the Angels. Both teams had gone back and forth throughout the 4-game series, and things finished 2-2 in the end. The Dodgers didn’t find as much success as they were looking for, but they did close out the series on a high note.
A total of 5-games will be getting the national spotlight this Friday, giving sports betting fans more than enough reasons to crack open a cold one. One of those 5 matchups that is bound to be interesting is the NL West matchup between the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks. Both teams are desperately trying to keep up with 1st place Los Angeles and they’ll be going for each other’s throats this evening

MLB Sports Odds:
Colorado Rockies -1 ½ (+125) 8 ½ (-110) -134
Arizona Diamondbacks +1 ½ (-145) 8 ½ (-110) +124
The Rockies tumble into this contest with a 47-34 record that pegs them as the 3rd best team in the NL West, 6 games behind the division-leading Dodgers and 3+ games behind Arizona. This series will mark the 4th time this season these two have faced each other. So far, Colorado leads their overall series 5-4. The Rockies will be trying to make sure that Arizona doesn’t tie things up this evening, and the MLB sports odds certainly think they can get it done.
To help prove the odds rights Colorado will be starting Jon Gray. Gray is 0-0 on the seasons with a 4.38 ERA and a 1.46 WHIP. Gray hasn’t seen a lot of playing time this season and has an opportunity to make his mark this Thursday.
The Diamondbacks slither into this contest with a 50-30 record that places them 2 ½ games behind 1st place in the NL West. The Diamondbacks have lost their last two games (against the St. Louis Cardinals) and will be looking to regain some lost ground. Arizona would like to keel Los Angeles in sight.
The Diamondbacks will be starting Robbie Ray this evening. Ray is 8-3 on the season with a 2.87 ERA and a 1.17 WHIP. Ray is one of the league’s most consistent LHP.
