Brewers Vie to Snap Pennsylvanian MLB Betting Curse
The second half of the MLB betting season is just getting started. Friday brings yet another opportunity for online MLB wagering fans to bet on America’s favorite pastime. Before we take a look at any eye-catching matches this Friday, let’s review Thursday’s betting results.
Thursday’s MLB Betting Run Down
Thursday’s action got off to a decent start as the Mets-Cardinals contest turned out to be more competitive than fans anticipated. New York was able to slip by St. Louis 3-2.
The Diamondbacks dropped a blitzkrieg on the Cincinnati Reds 12-2. It was a strong performance but it doesn’t do much for Arizona, who is still 11 games behind the Dodgers in the NL West.
The Boston Red Sox suffered an online MLB wagering upset at the hands of the Toronto Blue Jays – the franchise currently at the bottom of the AL East. The Yankees didn’t miss the opportunity to capitalize on the Red Sox’ mistake, as they picked up a 4-1 win over the Mariners.
After delivering two consecutive upsets to the Cleveland Indians, the Giants were unable to overcome the Padres Thursday evening, suffering a 5-2 loss to San Diego.
Speaking of upsets, the Brewers suffered yet another loss at the hands of the Pittsburgh Pirates. Milwaukee was swept in 4-games by the Bucs, giving them a 5-match losing streak since they suffered a lone loss before facing Pittsburgh.
Interestingly enough, that lone loss came against the Phillies, the team they are scheduled to face this Friday. Clearly Pennsylvania has been giving the Brewers a hard time lately. So much so, that Milwaukee is now in danger of losing their NL Central lead. Let’s see what the sportsbook odds have to say about the Brewers chances this evening.
Milwaukee Brewers vs. Philadelphia Phillies – Friday, July 21st
When: 7:05 pm ET
Where: Citizens Bank Park, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Series: Game 1 of 3-Game Series
TV: Local Broadcasts
Stream: MLB TV
Online MLB Wagering Odds:
Milwaukee Brewers +1 ½ (-175) 8 ½ (-110) +130
Philadelphia Phillies -1 ½ (+155) 8 ½ (-110) -140
Milwaukee enters this contest flashing a 52-46 record that snags them the No. 1 spot in the NL Central. However, as aforesaid, the Brewers are in danger of losing that position. The Cubs are currently on their tails and are only 1 ½ games behind Milwaukee. The Brewers have been absent from the playoffs for the last 5 seasons now but the club is hopeful that they can put an end to that drought this year.
They’ll need to break out of this slump first and Milwaukee is hopeful that Matt Garza will be the man to do it. Garza is getting the start for the Crew Friday and he’ll be looking to improve upon his 4-4 record, 3.84 ERA and 1.27 WHIP. The MLB betting odds are ruling against him however.
