Posted by: Charlie Smith

The online MLB betting season continues through the weekend. Let’s take a look at some of Thursday’s MLB sportsbook results, before breaking down a nationally covered game this Friday.

Thursday’s Online MLB Betting Recap

Thursday’s MLB action was kicked off by the Reds, who defeated the Padres 10-3 in Cincinnati. Afterwards, baseball betting sites and fans alike were treated to a contest between the Tigers and Pirates that ended in Pittsburgh’s favor 7-5.

The Mets delivered the first blowout of the night, shutting out the Phillies 10-zip on the road. New York is still 10 games behind a winning record.

The Washington Nationals ended their series against the Marlins on a high note, edging out a 3-2 victory against Miami last night.

The Yankees weren’t as fortunate as the Nats, since their series against Toronto came to a disappointing end. The Blue Jays beat New York 4-0, gaining their second win in the series.

The Tampa Bay Rays beat the Indians 4-1, the Minnesota Twins beat the Brewers 7-2, and the White Sox shocked the Houston Astros 3-2.

Thursday was a good night for Los Angeles, since both the Dodgers and Angels came out on top. The Dodgers won against Arizona 8-5 and the Angels spoiled the Mariners’ evening 6-3.

One of the best contests of the night pitted the St. Louis Cardinals against the Kansas City Royals. The game went back and forth throughout 9 innings but in the end the Cardinals scraped by 8-6.

There are a total of 15 MLB contests on deck for Friday. However, only the contest between the Red Sox and Yankees will receive the national spotlight. Let’s take a look at what MLB sportsbooks have to say about this pairing.

Boston Red Sox vs. New York Yankees – Friday, August 11th

Series: Game 1 of 3-Game Series

Online MLB Betting Odds:

Boston Red Sox              +1 ½ (-175) 9 (-125)           +115

New York Yankees   -1 ½ (+155)     9 (+105)          -125

Boston Red Sox

The Red Sox come into this game sporting a 65-49 record that ranks them 1st in the AL East, 4 ½ games ahead of second-place New York and 7 games ahead of the third-place Tampa Bay Rays. Boston has earned this lead in the second half of the online MLB betting season by putting on a rather impressive win streak. The Red Sox have won their last 8 games consecutively and will be looking to continue their AL East dominance this Thursday.

To get the job done, the Red Sox will be sending Eduardo Rodriguez to the mound this evening. Rodriguez is 4-3 on the season with a 4.08 ERA and a 1.27 WHIP. Rodriguez has been hitting his stride recently, posting a 3.00 ERA and a 1.00 WHIP in his last seven days.

New York Yankees

The Yankees slide into Friday’s matchup sporting a 60-53 record that ranks them second in the AL East, 4 ½ games behind tonight’s opponent. Likewise, New York has a 3 ½ game lead over third-place Tampa Bay. Despite being second in the division, the Yankees enter Game 1 as the MLB sportsbook favorite, which makes sense when considering that New York is 10-4 on the season against Boston.

Jaime Garcia gets the start from the Yanks. Garcia is 5-8 on the season with a 4.49 ERA and a 1.36 WHIP. Garcia has been performing rather poorly lately, posting a 9.64 ERA in his last 4.2 innings pitched.
