The Most Renowned Event in Horse Betting

Horse betting fans can have something else to look forward to as the annual Breeders’ Cup World Championship is right around the corner. The 33rd Breeders’ Cup World Championship, undeniably the most prestigious 2-day global event for Thoroughbred horses, is inching closer every day and punters are beginning to scourge the internet for the latest info, as well as the best possible lines for this year’s event.

This year’s event will consist of 13 grade I races with both the purses and awards exceeding $28 million. Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California will be hosting the event. Interestingly enough this is the 9th time they host the Breeders’ Cup, meaning that Santa Anita Park has now hosted more Breeders’ Cup more than any other venue. The event will be held on Friday, November 4th, as well as Saturday, November 5th. Friday’s events will include 4 Breeders’ Cup Championship races and Saturday’s events will be made up of 9 Breeders’ Cup Championship races.

Horse betting fans looking to tune into the Breeders’ Cup can do so via television. NBCSN and NBC will be in charge of the broadcasts for both Friday’s and Saturday’s events. The $6 million Breeders’ Cup Classic will be held on Saturday and will be broadcast live at 8:35 PM EST.

This year’s Breeders’ Cup will feature an assemble cast of 185 of the world’s best Thoroughbreds, incorporating 38 overseas horses. All 185 have already been pre-entered for this year’s races. Most notable amongst the entries are California Chrome, North America’s all-time leading money earner, Beholder, a two-time Breeders’ Cup Champion mare, Arrogate, winner of the Travers Stakes, Tepin, the defending champion, and Nyquist, winner of the Kentucky Derby. With so much talent entering this year’s competition, the best betting websites will have their hands full trying to put together odds for this year’s Breeders’ Cup. Of the 185 entries, 11 will be former Breeders’ Cup winners.

Looking over the numbers it’s clear that this is one Breeders’ Cup fans won’t easily forget. So far there are 7 races that are oversubscribed – containing more than 14 horses. Right now there are 45 horses who have already qualified for instant starting positions throughout the Challenge Series. Aidan O’Brien has entered more horses than any other trainer (13), and Coolmore partnerships leads the owners with 14.

Of course the $6 million Breeders’ Cup Classic is what the event is building up to. It should be noted that the purse has had a $1 million increase since last year. The race will be held on the main track at 1 ¼ miles. The first place owner’s purse will be $3.3 million, and there will be payouts all the way down to 8th place.
