Online Horse Betting Preps for Breeders’ Cup
Posted by: Mike Davis
The Breeders’ Cup represents the last significant online horse betting event of the year. The Breeders’ Cup has been around since 1984 and represents one of the largest and best racing events of the year. This year’s event, featuring only Grade I races, will take place on November 3rd and 4th at Del Mar Racetrack in Del Mar, California with NBC taking care of the broadcast. As aforementioned, the Breeders’ Cup generally represents the last major Grade I event of the season so this is quite literally the last opportunity of the year for player betting on horses to take advantage of in 2017.
Earlier this month, the Breeders’ Cup announced that a total of 187 horses had been pre-entered for the event, which includes nine returning or former champions; Arrogate, Highland Reel, Drefong, Oscar Performance, Lady Eli, Champagne Room, Queen’s Trust, Finest City and Mongolian Saturday. Heading into last year’s event, California Chrome was the odds on favorite. Let’s take a look at what the best racebooks around the web are predicting this time around by taking a look at the best picks in the field as well as the online horse betting odds they are facing.

Breeders’ Cup – Predictions
Classic – Gun Runner; Gun Runner has been the most impressive runner, no pun here, this summer. A lot of online horse betting sites are favoring the steed in this event but ultimately it will come down to how well he performs on the Del Mar surface.
Mile – World Approval; Coming off a huge Grade 1 win the Woodbine Mile, most bettors will be backing World Approval in this event. While he’s the frontrunner, his favoritism paves the way to some lucrative upset picks.
Turf – Highland Reel; The defending champ seems as good as pick as any.
Distaff – Stellar Wind; A tough pick to make but a solid one at that.
Juvenile – Bolt d’Oro; Bolt d’Oro solidified himself as the favorite for this event with a win in the Grade 1 FrontRunner. If he brings the same effort he has displayed recently, there’s no question that he’ll win.
Juvenile Fillies – Moonshine Memories; Sometimes, horse bettors will back a horse simply because of their name. With that approach, Moonshine Memories seems like a great option to back.
Sprint – Imperial Hint; Picking against the likes of Drefong is never a good idea. However, given what Imperial Hunt has been showing us lately, it’s almost impossible not to back him.
Dirt Mile – Accelerate; Either him or Sharp Azteca on this one.
Filly and Mare Sprint – Unique Bella; The Amazon made her return in the Grade 3 LA Woman at Santa Anita and outclassed all her competition. We could see something similar at Breeders’.
Filly and Mare Turf – Lady Eli; Online horse betting experts know to never pick against Lady Eli.
Turf Sprint – Disco Partner; Those who have been watching him prep know there’s very limited possibility that he’ll lose.
Juvenile Turf – US Navy Flag; If he makes it, he’ll win it.
Juveniles Fillies Turf – Rushing Fall; Her performance at the Grade 3 Jessamine at Kenneland has gained her a following that will be backing her in this one.
