Posted by: Hilbert Mayer
Horse racing updates – The past week has not been very cheerful for the horse racing betting fans and professional racers. Jockey’s and Horses from around the world made their appearance at the Dubai World Cup. The event went well as the undercard races took place, but tragedy struck when jockey Antonio Fresnu’s horse Zenden crashed to the ground after suffering from an injury. The Dubai Golden Shaheen winner Zenden had passed after a terrible front leg injury while reaching the finish line.
Fresnu and Zenden were winning the group race and it was one of his best and unfortunately his last performance. It turns out that Zenden suffered the injury when Fresnu gave him a slap on the neck. The horse dropped his jockey to the ground and tumbled on the track. Fresnu was good enough to evade the trailing horses and he had no injury.
Deryan Lifts Dubai Kahayla Classic
Deryan sealed a new record when he won the Dubai Kahayla Classic at Meydan in two minutes and 11.87 seconds. Loritz Mendizabal the former French Champion jockey was successful in guiding Deryan to the finish line. The dirt race was the first victory for Mendizabal as he lifted US$750,000 that was sponsored by Mubadala. Mendizabal stated that it was essential that he had to relax Deryan before getting onto the track and it certainly helped in his success.
Todd Kabel Passes
More tragic news struck as Canadian Thoroughbred horse racing jockey Todd Kabel passed away. Kabel was one of Canada’s most successful jockeys who won 3306 races in his impressive career. Kabel was born on December 7, 1965, in Manitoba. He was the winner of the Sovereign Award for Champion jockey in Canada back in 1992 and 1995. Kabel’s big wins were a couple from Queen’s Plates, Regal Discovery in 1995, Scatter the Gold in 2000, and Atto Mile in 2004.
The overall horse racing event in Dubai was successful, but fans were not permitted to attend the races due to the Covid-19 restrictions. However, fans were able to watch every race live with the extensive broadcasting effort. The top online betting website for horse racing will continue with several upcoming events during the month of April.
