2021 Beholder Mile Stakes Race Viewing Information
When: Saturday, March 13, 2021
Where: Santa Anita Park, Arcadia, California, United States
The 2021 Beholder Mile Stakes Race was originally known as the Vanity Handicap when it was inaugurated in 1940. However, the event was initially flagged off at the Hollywood Park Racetrack in Inglewood, California. After its inaugural run, the race was extended between 1 1/16 miles and 1 1/4 miles. Then, it was reverted back to a mile in 2016 when it was renamed as the Vanity Mile. The year after, the organizers renamed the race after the champion mare Beholder.
The race is usually run on a dirt track. It was except between 2007 and 2013 when Hollywood Park paraded a synthetic cushion track surface for the horseracing special. Etolia II won the first race ever. Unique Bella ran the fastest one-mile effort in this stakes race at one minute and 35.60 seconds (2018). Zenyatta had the most number of Beholder Mile wins with three as she won from 2008 to 2010.
Betting on the Horseracing Race
Six horses are lined up as probable starters in the USD300,000 race. Former Preakness Stakes winner Swiss Skydiver heads the field but has not raced since November 11 when the four-year-old filly finished seventh behind Monomoy Girl in the Breeders’ Cup Distaff Side.
She could be an early favorite due to her capacity to win big stakes races, like the Grade 1 Alabama Stakes, Grade 2 Santa Anita Oaks, Grade 3 Fantasy Stakes and Grade 3 Gulfstream Park Stakes. However, her four-year hiatus could work against her in the middle to the latter part of the race. A possible betting pick among the six entries is Bob Baffert-trained Merneith, who has been performing well as of late. The four-year-old filly out of American Pharoah has won three of four starts including the Fort Springs Stakes and the Santa Monica Grade 2 race. However, her wins were just short-distance races and her two one-mile events were something to forget.
Sanenus, on the other hand, won her last race at the Grade 3, La Canada Stakes on January 9 and placed second in a one-mile race in November of last year. As Time Goes By could also step up in the field due to her experience in a one-mile race where she finished first on January 17 at Santa Anita Park. She has also won two straight starts which could be a turn on for betting enthusiasts. Hard Not To Love and Harvest Moon are other entries in the list who can pull off a big surprise in the race.

2021 Beholder Mile Stakes Race Pick
Merneith is the top favorite by this online gambling site to take home the victory due to her impressive victories in her last three of four races. However, she could be challenged by former Preakness Stakes winner Swiss Skydiver, who is out to redeem herself from her previous fall at the Breeders’ Cup Distaff Side, and As Time Goes By, who is also on a tear, winning her last two starts. Sanenus, Hard Not To Love, and Harvest Moon are also capable of pulling off big surprises in the race. But at the end of the day, the bets should be on Merneith, Swiss Skydiver, and As Time Goes By who are expected to slug it out for the win in the mile-long race fest.
