2021 Apple Blossom Handicap Race Viewing Information
When: Saturday, April 17, 2021
A part of the Racing Festival of the South held in early April, the Apple Blossom Handicap was first to run in 1958. Until 1968, the organizers decided to hold it as an annual event. The race was also run in distances of 1 1/8 miles, 1 mile and 70 yards, and six furlongs. It was in 2011 that they began racing the event at 1 1/16 mile. Notable winners include Azeri, who took home the title in three successive years from 2002 to 2004; Zenyatta, who won the race in 2008 and 2010, and Paseana who emerged victorious in 1992 and 1993. Last year, Ce Ce emerged as the victor with a time of 1:43.14.
Betting on the Horseracing Race at the 2021 Apple Blossom Handicap
Five fillies are on the list of possible/probable entries in this race. Leading the list of entries is Monomoy Girl, who last won at the Bayakoa Stakes. The six-year-old mare out of Tapizar lost only twice in 16 starts. The two-time Breeders’ Cup Distaff winner began the year with a victory at Bayakoa over Our Super Freak and Finite. Monomoy Girl will be the favorite in this event but she will face stiff opposition coming from 2020 Preakness Stakes winner Swiss Skydiver. The four-year-old filly out of Daredevil has won seven of her 13 starts, including the Preakness, Alabama, Beholder Mile, Santa Anita Oaks, and Gulfstream Park Oaks. However, this horse has a tendency to lag behind, especially in the Breeders’ Cup Distaff where she only finished seventh.
With that being said, Monomoy Girl seems to be a better bet. Compared between the two, she has more consistency. The horse never placed lower than second so it’s highly possible that she can win the Apple Blossom. Other entries that could provide surprise and excitement in this race are Letruska, Getridofwhatailesu, and Chance To Shine. Letruska has won five of her 10 starts, including the Houston Ladies Classic in January. She placed second behind Shedaresthedevil in the Azeri Stakes last month. Getridofwhatailesu has won two early starts before placing third at the Azeri. This will only be the four-year-old filly’s fourth start of her career. Chance To Shine, on the other hand, will have her fifth start in the Apple Blossom. In her last two starts, the horse out of Morning Line finished fourth against eventual winners Monomoy Girl and Getridofwhatailesu.
2021 Apple Blossom Handicap Race Pick

Expect a slugfest between the two horses as Monomoy Girl will beat Swiss Skydiver in the homestretch to capture his 15th win and the Apple Blossom Handicap.
