2020 Coaching Club American Oaks Stakes Race – Three-year-old fillies take center stage in the 2020 edition of the Coaching Club American Oaks Stakes Race on Saturday, July 18, at the Saratoga Race Course in New York City. The Grade 1, USD350,000 race will be run for nine furlongs (1.125 miles or 1.810 kilometers) with seven horses emerging as possible starters. Four of the entries finished first in their previous starts and two other horses came in third. The race will be aired live on FS1 and MSG+ at 1:00 PM ET. The Race
The Coaching Club American Oaks Stakes kicked off in 1917 in honor of the Coaching Club of America. Initially sought to emulate the Epsom Oaks (now Epsom Derby) in England, the race has become prestigious and it is now known as the second leg of the Triple Tiara of Thoroughbred Racing. It was originally run at the Belmont Park and had a five-race stint at the Aqueduct Racetrack.
The race had previous distances of 10 (1 3/8 miles), 11 (1 1/4 miles) and 12 furlongs (1 1/2 miles). In 2010, the race returned to the original length of nine furlongs. Last year, Guarana sprinted away and won the race ahead of Point of Honor. Off Topic, Champagne Anyone and Boxwood rounded off the Top 5.

Of the probable entries in this race, Antoinette emerges as a threat to Tonalist’s Shape’s progress. Other fillies who could pull off a surprise are Altaf, Blame Debbie, Tempers Rising, Crystal Ball and Velvet Crush.
