2020 Clark Stakes Race Viewing Information

When: Friday, November 27, 2020
Where: Churchill Downs, Louisville, Kentucky, USA

The Race

The event is named in honor of Colonel M. Lewis Clark, who founded the Louisville Jockey Club that constructed Churchill Downs. The organizers previously held the race in distances of 1 1/16 miles, 1 1/4 miles, and two miles before settling at its current distance. Since 1875, only three horses have emerged as two-time winners of the race. They are Hodge, who won the 1915 and 1916 stagings of the event; Bold Favorite (1968 and 1969) and Bob’s Dusty (1977 and 1978). Last year, Tom’s d’Etat won the race over Owendale and Mr. Freeze.

Betting on Horseracing at the 2020 Clark Stakes Race

Nine horses are listed to take part in the event. Most online racing enthusiasts are placing their bets on Be My Standards. The four-year-old colt seeks to bounce back from a disappointing run at the Breeders’ Cup Classic. Experts expect him to perform well in Churchill Downs after placing not lower than second in his previous two starts in the racetrack. Overall, Be My Standards has racked up six victories in 13 career starts.

Contending for the Top Prize

However, the race will not be easy for Be My Standards as experts see Code of Honor and Owendale as his likely challengers. The son of Noble Mission and Reunited, Code of Honor had four consecutive good races under his belt. The four-year-old colt has emerged as the top horse six times and placed no lower than fourth in 13 of his 14 starts. Meanwhile, Owendale will look to bounce back from a fifth-place result in the Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile. The colt is a veteran of 16 races and went home as the top finisher five times. The horse knows how to win in Churchill Downs as he emerged victorious in one of his four starts there.

Other Bets

Other entries that will take part in the event are Mr. Money, Plus Que Parfait, Bodexpress, Mr Freeze, In Love, and Coastal Defense. A veteran of 17 races, Mr. Money is capable of giving the three top favorites an exciting showdown. His last appearance at Churchill Downs was a victory in the one-mile at the Ack Ack Stakes. Plus Que Parfait, on the other hand, took part in the Kentucky and Belmont derbies in 2019. The horse registered three top-three finishes in his last seven starts.

Bodexpress hopes to duplicate his recent success with a victory at Churchill Downs. He topped his last race at Gulfstream Park in October. Mr Freeze will compete in his second Clark Stakes and seeks to improve on his result last year. In Love will make his debut in the race while Coastal Defense aims to pull off another impressive showing after placing first and fourth in his last two races.

2020 Clark Stakes Race Pick

Online horseracing odds see Be My Standards, Code of Honor, and Owendale competing for the top three spots in the 2020 Clark Stakes. In this deep field, however, a surprise entry could emerge as the winner despite coming into the race as a longshot. Mr. Money, Plus Que Parfait, Bodexpress, and Mr Freeze are capable of hanging on with the leaders in the first part of the race and steal the victory in the final stages. The safest pick in this nine-horse field is Be My Standards due to his high-quality finishes in his previous starts.
