2018 Breeders’ Cup Betting Outlook
Posted by: Charlie Smith
The 2018 Breeders Cup Championship is right around the corner, which means that online horse betting players are strictly focusing in on Churchill Downs. The last time this championship was hosted at Churchill Downs, we saw a stunning finish as Goldikova was upset by Court Vision. Heading into this year’s championship, legal racebook betting fans are dying to know if we will see another upset this time around. But that’s not all bettors are wondering. So to help punters out, we’ve assembled the 5 juiciest questions ahead of this year’s Breeders’ Cup down below. Take a gander at this year’s 2018 Breeders’ Cup betting action.
2018 Breeders Cup Championship – Saturday, November 3rd
When: 3:30 pm ET – 6:00 pm
Where: Churchill Downs, Louisville, Kentucky
Stream: NBC Extra
Will Accelerate Win the Classic?
When racebook fans witnessed Justify win the Triple Crown earlier this year, most felt that the Horse of the Year awards was all but locked up. But after that defiant triumph, Justify has escaped the limelight and hasn’t been seen since Belmont, making that 4 ½ months without competing. In that absence, the John Sadler-trained Accelerate has risen to the zenith of online horse betting. At 5-years old, Accelerate has been having one heck of a season, considering he’s won four Grade 1 races and is irrefutably the people’s favorite ahead of the $6 million classic. If Accelerate comes out on top here, he could very well walk away with Horse of the Year honors. Judging by his recent performances, many bettors will be answering yes to the above listed question.
Which Race Will We See Mind Your Biscuits in?
This past Saturday, Trainer Chad Summers came out and said that Mind Your Biscuits has been pre-entered in both the Dirt Mile (2nd option) and the Classic (1st option). Considering that the 5-year old Mind Your Biscuits is coming off a win at the 1 ½ mile Lukas Classic back in September – which was held at Churchill Downs, many punters will be keeping an eye on this steed. Especially since Mind Your Biscuits managed to finish 3rd overall in the 2017 Breeders’ Cup, getting beat out by Roy H and Imperial Hint. Obviously Mind Your Biscuits will only be competing in one of the above listed races, so it will be interesting to see what they settle on. As of now this question is still unanswered.
Can the Distaff Defy Expectation?
Obviously most people will be looking forward to the Classic in this year’s event. However, the Distaff features the deepest field out of all Breeders’ Cup events. Well, at least a good portion of the online horse betting community feels this way. The biggest eye-catchers are 2018 Kentucky Oaks winner Monomy Girl, 2018 Kentucky Oaks champion Abel Tasman, 3rd place finisher of the 2018 Kentucky Oaks Midnight Bisou and none other than Grade 1 Spinster winner Blue Prize. Having said that, it’s clear that the Distaff could end up defying expectations in 2018.
