Zozo Championship @ Sherwood Golf Preview and Analysis

Zozo Championship @ Sherwood Golf  – World-class golf action will take center stage again. This second edition of the Zozo Championship @ Sherwood takes place on October 22-25. Seventy-eight of the finest parbusters around the world will compete here. In addition, this 72-hole competition is jointly sanctioned by the US PGA Tour and Japan Golf Tour. Initially, the inaugural staging of the tournament was held in the Japanese city of Inzai. This was the time when 15-time major winner Tiger Woods topped the event. However, the event was relocated to Sherwood Country Club in California. Travel restrictions were strictly imposed by the Japanese government to prevent the spread of the coronavirus disease to their country.

The US$8-million golf tournament can be followed live through GolfTV, One Sports, Twitter, and PGA Tour Radio. Aside from the cash prize and trophy, the winner will gain 500 FedEx Cup points. Golf picks and parlays favor Collin Morikawa to emerge victorious in the star-studded field. Likewise, this is due to his fine showing in the PGA Championship last August.

The Tournament

First played in 2019, the joint Japan Golf Tour-US PGA Tour event was held at the Narashino Country Club. In the initial staging of the event, Woods won the 72-hole tournament over Japanese parbuster Hideki Matsuyama. The victory put him into a tie with Sam Snead in the all-time tour wins list at 82. This year’s edition of the Zozo Championship is part of the 2021 US PGA Tour season’s western swing. The relocation to the Sherwood Country Club made the US PGA Tour as the sole sanctioning body for the tournament.

Plenty of parbusters looking to earn valuable points in the FedEx Cup Tour and earning more money . These golfers are Paul Casey, Gary Woodland, Bubba Watson and Matthew Wolff. Others include Patrick Cantlay, An Byeong-hun, Webb Simpson, and Xander Schaufelle.

Woods’ bid to successfully defend the title will be more difficult. Johnson, Thomas, McIlroy, Rahm, Spieth, and recent PGA Championship winner Morikawa will take part in the four-day tournament. However, Woods will use his prior experience as an advantage to take home the Zozo Championship again. He is familiar with the course where he won six titles. However, PGA Tour bookies are in favor of young golfer Morikawa to capture the title due to his impressive performances in previous US PGA Tour tournaments, especially the PGA Championship.
