Golf Update Victor Hovland Wins Dubai Desert Classic Luke List Defeats Will Zalatoris

A surprising victory for Victor Hovland at the Dubai Desert Classic has kept critics quiet and fans happy. Hovland recorded history and grabbed the biggest win of his career defeating Rory Mcllory. A list of golf betting websites have predicted Hovland to win but most of them favored Mcllory. However, Hovland broke the odds and secured one of his best victories. Hovland won after a birdie on the first hole. The Norwegian golfer was initially out of the top 10 when he started but his strong effort pushed him to the top.

Victor Hovland’s Battle with Mcllory

Despite Mcllory dominating the tournament at the start, Hovland took advantage of the perfect situation. Hovland managed to close in on a birdie-eagle-birdie for a 66 that pushed him in the playoffs. Hovland never expected the shot to get so perfect since Mcllory was in control throughout. Hovland’s eagle at No. 17 was impressive and he managed to drive the green and bury the lengthy.

Mcllory was a tough competition for Hovland but he managed to pull through eventually. This is a good start for the 24-year-old golfer as he added another jewel to his crown. Hovland was the first Norwegian to win the 2020 Puerto Rico Open. He was also the first one from his country to win the European Tour at the BMW International Open last year.

Luke List Defeats Will Zalatoris

Apart from Mallory’ victory, Luke List came off a big victory against Will Zalatoris. List beat Zalatoris and claimed the maiden PGA Tour. List was the first to birdie the extra hole at Torrey Pines. He held out from the bunker at the 12th and picked up a shot at the 16th. List changed the leaderboard status on the final day after four consecutive birdies. He also recorded a 12-foot birdie at the last to set the clubhouse target.

Zalatoris was not an easy opponent as both were forced to lay upon the par-five. List fired an impressive 131-yard approach that put him ahead. As for Zalatoris, he finished 15 feet from the hold and was unable to complete his birdie opportunity. The 25-year-old golfer was disappointed with the outcome but was also proud of his fight. Zalatoris stated that his career goal was to win a major and his dream is yet to come true.
