Golf Update: Henley Leads Wyndham Championship; Wolff Sizzles at Greenbrier

Golf Update Henley leads Wyndham Championship Wolff sizzles at Greenbrier

Henley Leads Wyndham Championship: Russell Henley remained in the lead after two rounds of the United States Professional Golfers Association Tour Wyndham Championship on Friday at the Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, North Carolina. However, he is being chased by five other golfers who are at least two shots off the pace as the tournament heads to an exciting weekend with two rounds remaining. Meanwhile in Greenbrier, Matthew Wolff played brilliantly in the opening round to grab a two shot lead at the LIV Golf Greenbrier. Online golf betting experts were surprised with the outcome of the opening rounds of both tournaments but they are still hoping that their best bets will make a move in the weekend and gain lost money by choosing the golfers that will emerge victorious by the end of the week.

Henley Keeps Wyndham Lead as Horschel Surges

Henley Leads Wyndham Championship: Henley shot a 4-under-par 66 in the second round to keep the lead after 36 holes of the Wyndham Championship. The 34-year-old, four-time US PGA Tour winner made five birdies, 12 pars and one bogey to remain in the upper hand at the halfway mark of the US$7.6-million event. It was a follow up from a sizzling 62 that catapulted him at the top of the leaderboard on Thursday. His tournament-leading 12-under 128 total is one shot off the surging Billy Horschel who carded an 8-under-par 62 to follow up on an opening-round 67 for a 36-hole aggregate of 11-under 129. Horschel, a seven-time US PGA winner, made an eagle at the eighth hole to go along with seven birdies, nine pars and one bogey. His big round helped him squeeze past four golfers bunched up at 130. Currently 116th in the US PGA standings, the 36-year-old hopes to secure a victory that would boost his hopes of qualifying to the season-ending FedEx Cup playoffs.

Sharing third at 10-under were Brendon Todd and Lucas Glover of the US, Adam Svensson of Canada and An Byeong-hun of South Korea. Todd posted a 63 in a round that featured eight birdies, nine pars and a bogey. Glover had seven birdies, 10 pars and one bogey for a 64 while Svensson made five birdies, 11 pars and two bogeys. An, meanwhile, collected two eagles, three birdies, 10 pars, two bogeys and one double bogey for a 67. The six golfers are in prime contention for the US$1.368-million top prize and valuable FedEx Cup points that they can use to qualify for the playoffs.

Ludvig Aberg shot his second-straight 66 for solo seventh at 132 while a quartet of golfers are in eighth place at 133. Former world number one Justin Thomas bounced back from a 70 in the opening round with a second-round 65 that put him tied for 21st at 135. Thomas, ranked 79th in the FedEx Cup rankings, is also trying to qualify in the Top 70 and a good finish would be enough to push him in the playoffs.

Henley Leads Wyndham Championship: Wolff Takes First-Round LIV Golf Lead at Greenbrier

Wolff got off to a solid start with a 9-under-par 69 to take a two-shot lead at the LIV Golf Greenbrier tournament on Friday. The American shot an eagle, eight birdies, eight pars and one bogey at the Old White Course in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia. He now has a two-shot lead over David Puig and Harold Varner III. The big round came a month after Team Smash captain Brooks Koepka was interviewed by Sports Illustrated where he berated Wolff. The five-time major champion accused him of quitting during rounds and not putting in the effort. He then described the former Oklahoma State star as a “talent wasted.”

In response, Wolff said that it was disheartening to hear his team captain saying those words and added he is making progress on his mental health issues. The inner team fiasco seemed to have not affected Team Smash as he, Koepka and Jason Kokrak established a four-shot edge in the team competition. Koepka and Kokrak both shot a 65 to help Wolff in carrying the load for the squad. Dean Burmester and Cameron Tringale are in joint fourth at 64. Aside from Koepka and Kokrak, Joaquin Niemann, Peter Uihlein, Charles Howell III, Laurie Canter, Louis Oosthuizen, Dustin Johnson and three-time LIV Golf winner Talor Gooch were also at 65.

In the team competition, Torque GC, composed of Puig, Niemann and Sebastian Muñoz, are tied with two other teams at second place at 15-under. They are Stinger GC (Burmester, Oosthuizen and Branden Grace) and Range Goats GC (Varner, Gooch and Bubba Watson). HyFlyers GC (Tringale, Phil Mickelson and Brendan Steele) are in fifth spot at 13-under. There are still two rounds left to play in the event, meaning there is still a long way to go for bettors to wage on the best sports picks and parlays in the LIV Golf Greenbrier tournament.
