2020 Memorial Tournament Golf – The US PGA Tour resumes this week with the 2020 edition of the Memorial Tournament. For the second week in a row, the Muirfield Village Golf Club will play host to another tournament. Unlike the Workday Charity Open, the Memorial will be filled with the sport’s superstars. A total of 132 parbusters will compete in the 72-hole event that will kick off on July 16 at 7:00 AM ET.
This is so far the largest tournament since the sport restarted action following the coronavirus pandemic. Fans will witness the likes of World number one Rory McIlroy, second seed Jon Rahm, and third-ranked Justin Thomas starting in the four-day tournament. Everyone will be overshadowed by the 15-time major champion Tiger Woods, who will be making his first appearance in a competitive event since mid-February.
Other prominent shotmakers who are set to tee off at Muirfield Village are FedEx Cup leaders Webb Simpson, Justin Thomas, Sungjae Im and Bryson DeChambeau; world number four Dustin Johnson, former world number one Brooks Koepka, Top 10 golfers Patrick Reed and defending champion Patrick Cantlay, as well as Workday Charity Open winner Collin Morikawa.
The USD9.3-million tournament will offer 500 FedEx Cup points for the champion, who will receive a whopping USD1.674 million for his efforts. Last year’s 2020 Memorial Tournament Golf saw Cantlay shooting a 64 to win by two strokes over Adam Scott. Last week, the American wound up tied for seventh in the same course.
However, golf betting oddsmakers will keep an eye on Woods, who has captured the tournament crown five times, with the last being in 2012. It will be Woods’ 18th time to compete in the event. He is not favored to win the event. However, expect the American to contend in the 2020 Memorial Tournament Golf as he had nine Top-10 finishes, including last year where he finished tied for ninth. Woods tees off at Muirfield with a +2000 odds just like Koepka and Morikawa.
Based on his previous performance, Thomas will be the top favorite in this star-studded event. Leading the FedEx Cup rankings, he had previously lost to Morikawa in a playoff last week. The 27-year-old American opens with a +1000 odds just like DeChambeau, who is fourth in the said race. Back-to-back-seeking Cantlay, McIlroy and Johnson round up the Top 5 favorites to win the 2020 Memorial Tournament Golf. Xander Schauffele is also in the mix along with Webb Simpson and Viktor Hovland.
Fans betting on PGA Tour golf will need to pick well to gain enormous dividends in this world-class field. One can go all-in with the legendary Woods or pick a consistent parbuster like McIlroy, Thomas and Johnson. This deep 72-hole tourney can also crown a Spaniard in Rahm. He is creeping at the world number one spot just behind the Northern Irishman. But in the end, consistency will prevail in the Memorial. This event will be held at the same course where the Workday Charity Open was played. Thomas will redeem himself and win the event by two strokes.
